Study guide for the final (May 4, 2010)

Approximately 60 % of the material will be material covered for the previous 3 tests. It does not mean material FROM the test, rather, material that you were supposed to study for those tests. For this part, use the previously issued guides.

The new material - essentially electrochemistry - will be approximately 40 % of the test. The subjects of particular interests are:

The hydrogen electrode

Reference electrodes

Function of a pH meter as a device (i.e., what does it do and why)

Potentiometric measurements

Titration curves, evaluated potentiometrically

Electrogravimetry, bulk electrochemical separation

Ion selective electrodes

The glass electrode

Voltammetric methods

Polarographic methods

Hydrodynamic methods
